The city has expanded its funding programs to meet the needs of Montréal businesses. A number of subsidies are available to support their growth and contribute to our city’s economic vitality.

Financial assistance is often needed for businesses to carry out major projects, such as building, expanding or renovating a space or building, implementing more sustainable practices or developing innovations.

In a context of ecological transition and recovery, Montréal is supporting businesses that help our economy grow and that want to grow with a view to sustainable development.

Diversified support

Discover four flagship programs for various client groups, including arts and culture organizations, emerging or established businesses, companies in the industrial sector and social economy companies.

Sustainable development and mobility projects: Subsidy for businesses

With a view to climate change, companies can consider reducing their energy consumption, taking the leap into circular economy or adopting a more sustainable method of transportation for merchandise. This program offers up to $1.125 million for sustainable development and mobility initiatives in designated areas of Montréal.

This measure aims to accelerate the city’s ecological transition and improve the quality of life for workers, populations and business environments affected by the projects.

Subsidy for sustainable industrial buildings

This subsidy is a successor to the “PRAM-Industrie” program, which took place from 2007 to 2015 and aimed to make investing in Montréal easier while improving the sustainability of our built heritage. The success of the first measure led to the development of a new program pairing industrial real estate development with the ecological transition.

The program supports a number of projects by focussing on sectors of high potential, such as life sciences and aeronautics. The program also aims to accelerate the comeback of the manufacturing sector that was launched on the island of Montréal.

ubsidy for buildings that house social economy companies

This two-part program provides extra support for social economy entrepreneurs and the nearby services they offer to Montréal’s communities. A wide variety of projects can receive funding, from the purchase of a building to renovation projects.

Open innovation subsidy for up and coming businesses

This program links new companies with established companies to stimulate business innovation. The subsidy must help two partner organizations to carry out a tangible and sustainable project that aims to improve the quality of life for Montrealers.

There are so many benefits. The young company gets its first client, technical and financial support and an extended business network. The established company gets greater agility and access to innovative solutions that have a real impact on its activities.

These programs are made possible thanks to financial contributions from the government of Québec.
